Thune, Rounds have no trouble with special counsel

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KELO AM) South Dakota's two Republican U.S. Senators have no problems with a special counsel being appointed to investigate Russian meddling in the Presidential election.

Senator John Thune tells Fox News that President Trump needs to get this behind him to get back to focusing on - what Thune calls - the American people's agenda.

"I don't think you can diminish or downplay the important role that the special counselor is going to play or the role that the intelligence commitees in the House and Senate are going to play. I just think the President needs to get the answers out there quickly...." says Thune.

Senator Mike Rounds says he supports the appointment of former FBI Director Robert Mueller has special counsel.

"..the decision confirms that the system is working as intended." says Rounds, in a statement released by his Washington office.

Both men continue to insist that while the national media may be focusing on Trump's travails, Congress is steadily working on tax reform, repealing Obamacare, and other issues.
