AUDIO: New texting tool for drug tips

UNDATED (KELO AM) Law enforcement and Healthcare professional have announced a new anonymous texting program to encourage more South Dakotans to give tips about drug crimes.

The program is called Project Stand Up. You text the word 'drugs' to 82257 to give your anonymous tip. You may be asked questions for more information, but your identity will not be revealed.

 “As our nation faces a growing drug epidemic, it is important that South Dakotans use innovation and technology to better protect our communities. Anonymous texting allows citizens to be proactive and take part in keeping their communities safe.", says State Attorney General Marty Jackley.

Sanford Health is also part of the new initiative.

"Sanford Health is proud to join with SD law enforcement on this important program to help keep our SD communities safe,” says Mike Begeman with Sanford Health.
