SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Foundation Park's first, and anchor, tenant will be an over 200-thousand square foot, refrigerated foods warehouse and distribution center.

Norman Drake, president of Legacy Development, one of the owners of Win Chill, says the group paid over $5.5 million for the land and facility construction will cost $40 million.

Drake says the facility will address a significant shortage of quality cold storage and blast freezing wareshouse space that "heretofore has required companies to send product elsewhere for processing, handling, storage and distribution."

President of the Sioux Falls Development Foundation, Slater Barr, says Win Chill is a perfect fit for Foundation Park because it requires a large site, 54 acres, BNSF rail service and excellent transportation connections.

Drake says Win Chill connects the links in the refrigerated food supply chain for the region.  He says the warehouse will have 7.7 million cubic feet of freezer and refrigerated capacity.

The company expects to employ up to 35 workers in the initial phase of Win Chill's operation.

No word yet on the groundbreaking date.
