SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) Sioux Falls is hopping with even more rabbits than usual this year, perhaps because of the mild spring, but don't call Animal Control Officer Julie DeJong.
"Animal Control doesn't respond to those calls. We would just be swamped day in and day out," Says DeJong. DeJong doesn't think Sioux Falls has more urban rabbits than other city's its size, but perhaps it is in a sweet spot.
"Weather is pretty mild compared to farther north or even farther south where it's too hot for this kind of species. But, I think they just have it just right here in the city."
Since rabbits have up to six little rabbits per litter, you better put a fence up around your garden this year.
