SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Police will hold a daytime saturation patrol Saturday across Sioux Falls.

Officer Sam Clemens says 14 additional officers will join the regular patrol from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Clemens says the extra officers will concentrate on traffic violations such as under the influence, speeding, red light running, reckless and distracted driving.

Clemens says most saturation patrols take place overnight but he says police realize that impaired driving happens anytime of the day.  He says there is usually at least one impaired driver arrested during daylight saturation patrols.

He says there are usually more impaired drivers at night so that's where the focus lies for night saturation patrols.  Daytime, Clemens says, common violations include speeding, red light running and reckless driving.
