SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls man is accused of raping his girlfriend after he was released from jail for allegedly strangling her.
26-year-old Demarcus Terrell Bethany was arrested for domestic assault in the strangling incident last Sunday. Officer Sam Clemens says Bethany was released from jail the next day and ordered to not have any contact with the woman.
Clemens says Bethany is accused of contacting her and blaming her for his being arrested. He asked her to meet him at a motel where he was staying.
Clemens says the woman met him and that's when he allegedly raped her.
She reported the incident to police Thursday, three days later. Bethany was arrested Thursday at a friend's home on East 57th Street.
Bethany is charged with second degree rape, aggravated and simple assault domestic and violation of a no contact order.
