SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) The crowd was so large at this week's first meeting of the Sioux Falls Annexation Task Force at the downtown Library, the next meeting will be at more commodious quarters.
Task Force Chair, Councilor Rick Kiley says the next meeting will be in the City Council chambers at Carnegie Hall, April 26th, and at a later time, 5:30 p.m., to make it easier for still more people to attend.
Kiley believes the task force is getting standing-room only crowds because annexation can cause so much concern. He also gives freshman City Councilor Theresa Stehly credit.
"Councilor Stehly's effort over the weekend with distributing flyers through some of the neighborhoods, that had an impact on the results as well."
Kiley says the task force is not looking at specific neighborhoods or specific properties for annexation. Its job is to come up with suggestions on how to improve the process and the regulations.
Sioux Falls has dozens of unannexed neighborhoods that are like islands now, completely surrounded by the city limits.
