UNDATED (KELO AM) The Executive Director of the South Dakota Democratic Party, Suzanne Jones Pranger, is stepping down to work with what was called "a statewide campaign."

That politically pregnant phrase has political pundits and bloggers buzzing over what statewide campaign she's talking about, as she doesn't specify.

Jones Pranger was brought on board in August 2015 to try to beef up support for the party, but since then, the Dems have hit historic lows in the state Legislature.

State Party Chair Anne Tornberg has issued the following statement.

"Suzanne Jones Pranger was a valued member of our State Party staff and did a wonderful job as Executive Director. The Party wishes her well as she pursues other professional opportunities working with a statewide campaign."  There's that phrase again, "a statewide campaign."

There's only one Democrat running for statewide office so far in South Dakota, a virtual unknown, David Martian in Rapid City for the U.S. House. Some pundits speculate that State Senator Billie Sutton of Burke may decide to run for either Governor or the House seat.
