Intoxicated father faces felony charge

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls man who is accused of dropping his one-year-old daughter on her head had a preliminary breath test of .32 at the time of his arrest.

Officer Sam Clemens says 25-year-old Angelo Brad High Pipe was caring for the child while her mother was working.

High Pipe brought the girl to a hotel in southwest Sioux Falls and rented a room.  It was at the hotel that someone saw High Pipe drop the child who began crying.  The witness told hotel management who called police.

Officers came to High Pipe's room and knocked on the door but did not get any answer.  Police opened the door with a key from management and found High Pipe passed out in his room.  The baby was laying on a pillow on the floor.

High Pipe is charged with abuse or cruelty to a minor under the age of seven.

Clemens says the girl's mother wasn't sure why High Pipe got a motel room but guessed it was because he was drinking and she doesn't tolerate that behavior

The baby was taken to the hospital for treatment of scrapes to her forhead.  She was otherwise not seriously injured.
