SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Three adults have been arrested in connection with the apparent alcohol poisoning death of a 19-year-old Watertown woman earlier this week.
Police Sergeant Chad Stahl says 21-year-old Kayla Juhnke and 19-year-old Brady Alan Johnke are charged with providing the alcohol to the victim and 19-year-old Logan James Schilling is accused of hosting the location where the victim was drinking.
All charges are misdemeanors with Juhnke facing the most serious charge of buying alcohol for a person under 21. She faces a year in the county jail and $2,000 in fines.
Early Tuesday morning police were called to a home in southwest Watertown on a report of a female not breathing. The woman had no pulse and life-saving efforts were made on scene. She was pronounced dead at Prairie Lakes Hospital.
The cause of death appears to be alcohol poisoning but the incident remains under investigation by the Watertown Police Department and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.
The family has invoked their Marsy's Law Rights so the name of the victim can't be released.
