SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls Fire Rescue pitches in to help the Muscular Dystrophy Association later this week in the annual "Fill the Boot" fundraising campaign.
MDA Area Director Erin Hill says contributions support the Association's efforts to fund groundbreaking research and life-enhancing programs.
Hill says donations help send local kids to the best week of the year at MDA summer camp, Camp Courage.
Fire fighters will fan out across the city with boots in hand for this year's drive May 26, May 27 and June 1. Every year Sioux Fall Fire Rescue dedicates hours of their time participating in "Fill the Boot" drives.
The Association combats 43 neuromuscular diseases including ALS. Hill says typically the Sioux Falls drive raises between $30,000 and $35,000 a year. She says 80% of that stays locally.
