Sioux Falls, S.D. (KELO-AM) - Two Sioux Falls residents were sentenced for weapons violations on Thursday.
Michael Spath will spend 51 months in jail for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Those charges stem from an incident in December 2015 when officers showed up at Spath's home after he missed his parole meetings. They found a 12-gauge shotgun and a .45 caliber pistol in his home along with ammunition for both guns. A third gun was also found in his car a few days later.
As part of his sentence, Spath will have to forfeit all three guns.
Lesa Zaft was also sentenced for possession of a firearm by a felon. She'll serve 37 months in custody to run concurrent with other sentences. Charges against her stemmed from an incident in which she sold a gun, ammo, and some methamphetamine to an undercover officer.
Zaft had previously been sentenced on drug related charges, which made it illegal for her to own a gun.
Both individuals will also pay fines.
