UNDATED (KELO AM) - A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the immediate Sioux Falls area until 1:00 Monday morning.
Forecaster Janice Maldanado at the National Weather Service spoke to KELO Radio's Rick Williams...she says the heaviest snowfall rates will occur into early afternoon, with three to five inches possible by Monday morning. Some localized amounts of six inches to eight inches are possible.Winds of 20 to 30 mph will diminishing overnight.
As of Sunday mid-afternoon, Sioux Falls had 2.9 inches of new snow, while to the north, in Watertown, 8 inch total was reported.
Low visibilities are being reported, from less than a block in towns to under a quarter mile in open areas, especially during the heaviest snowfall.
Just to the east and north of Sioux Falls, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 10 a.m. to 7 a.m. Monday morning.
Only travel if needed. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Both Sioux Falls Police and Minnehaha County Sheriff patrols report visibilities down to less than a quarter mile, and slick conditions.
