SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Minnehaha County Deputy Sheriff Seth Hodges was treated and released yesterday after he was hit by a stolen car that eventually crashed into a church on East Tenth Street.
Sheriff Mike Milstead used the incident to again dispell the notion that there are low risk drug offenders. Milsltead says drug offenders are high risk to people who encounter them on the roads, they're high risk to members of the community, high risk to law enforcement and high risk to their own physical health.
Milstead says since 2011, 24-year-old Willard Charles Makes Roon For Them III of Sioux Falls has been arrested 18 times, had over 60 warrant services, is currently wanted on a probation violation for failure to appear on a drug charge. He has a prior assault on law enforcement and aggravated eluding.
He says it's a reminder that people who use methamphetamine are high risk to the community and create the kind of dangers that law enforcement are seeing and encountering.
Makes Room For Them III is charged with aggravated assault on law enforcement, aggravated eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of controlled substances in Tuesday's incident.
