SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Police say a drug rip over a small amount of marijuana turned into a high speed chase early Wednesday morning that led to the vehicles hitting each other, forcing a sedan into a tree on Western Avenue killing a 15-year-old Sioux Falls boy.
Lieutenant Mike Colwill identifies the victim as Kareem Hussein Cisse.
Colwill says 16-year-old Alexander Lingor is charged with second degree murder, first and second degree manslaughter, aggravated assault and injury hit and run. Lingor was driving a pickup that struck a sedan forcing it into the tree.
Colwill says the investigation shows that Cisse, and two friends, were allegedly buying marijuana from Lingor and 26-year-old Anthony Moran of Sioux Falls. The drug purchase turned into a drug rip where Lingor and Moran took the money and didn't hand over the pot.
Colwill say a high speed chase started around 57th and Louise. Cisse was a passenger in a car driven by an 18-year-old Sioux Falls man who was treated and released. Another passenger, a 16-year-old Sioux Falls boy, is still hospitalized.
Moran is charged with being an accessory and misprision of a felony.
Colwill says weapons were not involved in the incident. He says there may be more charges in the case.
