SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY-TV / KELO-AM) - A state prison inmate placed on escape status after failing to return to prison from a job furlough Tuesday is back in custody.Inmate Salathiel Pointer was arrested by Sioux Falls Police and was returned to the South Dakota State Penitentiary early this morning.
The South Dakota Department of Corrections says the 47-year-old Pointer was supposed to return to the Sioux Falls Community Work Center on the grounds of the South Dakota State Penitentiary late Tuesday afternoon.
Pointer is currently serving a 10-year sentence for grand theft from Minnehaha County.
