SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO AM) A Sioux Falls teenage girl mssing since Saturday, February 11, was found safe on Tuesday and returned to her worried family.
The family of Teanna VanHeerde, 14, was especially concerned because the girl took off without her medication. It took awhile for the police to go public because VanHeerde was first classified as a runaway, but finally the story with her picture was released to the media.
She couldn't have gone very far while missing as police say she visited her home at least a couple of times, while her family was away. She may have just been staying with friends in the area.
Obviously this kind of story starts a debate on when it becomes a story at all. There was some concern in the early days that Teanna may have been in danger, but apparently that wasn't the case. She could be just a teenage girl who can't get along with her family. If she does it again, should the media cover it?
