SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO-AM) --Initiated Measure 22 sponsor Rick Weiland is critical of the South Dakota Legislature slapping an emergency clause on repeal of the voter passed measure.
Following an appearance on The Greg Belfrage Show, Weiland spoke with KELO Radio's Todd Epp about how the use of the emergency clause not only prevents citizens' ability to refer the legislature's action, but it is also undemocratic.
Speaker of the House Mark Mickelson joined Weiland on It's Your Business Tuesday as well, in a tense exchange about the Weiland's motives in bringing the measure and accusations of impropriety Weiland's group Take It Back! has made against the legislature in general.
