SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Thousands of Minnesota college students and residents are expected to march today in protest of the inauguration of Donald Trump as President and discrimination against people of color, women and the LGBT community.

Walkouts are set at the University of Minnesota and Augsburg College as part of a citywide call to action by the "Resist from Day One Coalition."

Graduate student Matt Boyton is an organizer with Students for a Democratic Society and he says they're protesting national politics, but also discrimination on campus.  Boyton says the university is an increasingly diverse campus but there's increased hostility towards people of color, women and non-heterosexual people.

The rally is this afternoon in the front plaza of the Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

Other Minnesota marches today include a "Janitors Strike against Trump," a "Native Lives Matter Resistance" and a rally at Minneapolis City Hall.
