SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO AM) 2016 was a record year for visitors at Falls Park in Sioux Falls.
The Park Information Center and Tower counted 216,263 people, a nine percent increase over 2015, and 15 percent higher than in 2014.
This count only covers approximately a third of the people who actually visit Falls Park, says Terri Schmidt with the Convention and Visitors Bureau:
"So, you can mulitply that number by three and probably get closer to the real number of people who are visiting Falls Park," Schmidt tells KELO Radio.
Visitors to the city's signature park came from all 50 states and from 68 other countries, some of which, Schmidt jokes, she has trouble pronouncing.
