SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A drunk driver is accused of rear-ending a Sioux Falls police cruiser and another is accused of ramming her car into the front of a city snow plow over the weekend.
Sergeant Paul Creviston says the officer involved collision happened early Saturday morning at Career Avenue and Benson Road.
Creviston says the officer saw a speeding vehicle headed for her in her rear view mirror. The speeding vehicle ran into the back of the squad car. He says the officer had slowed down because there were snow plows in front of her.
The officer suffered neck and back pain and was treated and released'
Creviston says another incident with a snow plow happened last night at 18th and Marion.
Creviston says a snow plow operator saw a driver coming at him head-on and ran into the plow. He says the collision sheared off part of the front end of the car. She ran into the blower attachment causing $1,500 in damage.
26-year-old Brianna Sanchez and 24-year-old Jeffrey Nielsen were both arrested for D-W-I, first offense.
Creviston says police responded to 164 traffic accidents between Friday and yesterday. He says that's not out of the ordinary for a similar storm event.
