Home sweet home in time for Christmas

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO AM) Thirty-eight soldiers from the South Dakota National Guard were welcomed home to Sioux Falls in a ceremony at the Sanford Pentagon Wednesday afternoon.

The Sioux Falls-based 196th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade spent 10 months in Kuwait, helping with military security.

U.S. Senators John Thune and Mike Rounds helped Adjutant General of the State National Guard, Major General Tim Reisch in the pleasant duty of greeting the soldiers and thanking them for a job well done.

The Kuwait deployment completes the second mobilization for the 196th since the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The unit first deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010-2011.
