SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) Out of the sadness of the loss of a life in a building collapse rises good news. The Copper Lounge building collapsed Friday morning in Downtown Sioux Falls and over 48 hours later they rescued the 3rd dog from the rubble. It was first reported to KELO Radio News by reserve officer Roger Heinrich that he was told that someone thinks they hear the 3rd dog in the rubble.
Sioux Falls Fire and Rescue and Sioux Falls Animal Control was called in to search the rubble. Several men were on site deciding how to attack the rubble when a rescuer pointed to a spot and several men began to swiftly move the rubble. After several tense moments one rescuer emerged with the beagle.
The dog was in good health, a bit weak, but Animal Control immediately took the dog to the family including survivor Emily Fodness who was also rescued on Friday. After the tearful reunion, the dog was taken for observation to make sure there were no injuries.
