SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - When a Sioux Falls woman was kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend last October, local law enforcement collectively utililized their particular skills to rescue her and arrest the suspect.
Yesterday, those men and women were recognized by their superiors for the successful end to the case that saw the female victim rescued unharmed.
The victim called 911 after finding her ex-boyfriend waiting for her. He forced he into the trunk of her car but Sioux Falls Police and Minnehaha County Deputies were already responding and the incident was soon settled.
Metro Communications Director Paul Niedringhaus presented an Exceptional Service award to Shift Supervisor Chelsea Kouf and a Life Saving Award to Metro Shift A for their work in the case. 'A' staffers include Jason Meyer, Lenora Giles, Robyn Logan, Robert DiMercurio, Joseph Pudas, Dustin Odegard, Teresa Johnson and Tyler Fettes.
Police Chief Matt Burns presented a Division Commendation to Sergeant Rob Forster and a Shift Commendation to Sergeant Tim Hagen, Sergeant Tommy Schmitz, Officer Bryan Brink, Officer Robert Draeger and Officer Jeff Gillespie.
Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office Captain Mike Walsh presented a Division Commendation to Sergeant Joe Bosman and Deputy Aaron Walton.
This team effort led to the rescue of the victim from her captor within an hour of her call.
