Thune Optimism

SIOUX FALLS,SD (KELO-AM) - South Dakota's senior U.S. Senator says he thinks plans for jump starting the economy laid out by the incoming President will spark growth. John Thune told FOX NEWS today that he thinks the Trump approach to removing excessive government regulation, and tax cuts will cause growth exceeding the 3 to 4 percent seen during the Obama administration.

FOX anchor Neil Cavuto asked Thune about a link between current upswings in market conditions and Trump's election. "I think there was some optimism that came out of the election, particularly with regard to business" Thune added "People just felt a huge sigh of relief" after the election.

Word of a sweeping tax reform is being touted by Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin caused Cavuto to ask Thune about the chance of the national debt potentially temporarily growing. "You address that in two ways fiscal restraint and faster growth in the economy". He says with those two factors, government revenues should increase, and stay ahead of growing deficit.
