SIOUX FALLS, S.D (KELO AM) - The city's health initiative, "Live Well Sioux Falls," is launching a program to teach residents how to eat healthy on a budget.

Stan Kogan with the Health Department says the store tours focus on food labels, price comparisons and identifying true whole grain products.

Tour participants receive a ten dollar certificate for fruits and vegetables.  That is made possible by a grant forn "Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry" campaign.

"Live Well Sioux Falls" partners with Hy-Vee and other local grocers and organizations to offer free grocery tours to teach residents how to eat healthy on a budget.

Kogan says Sioux Falls and South Dakota rank low in making fruit and vegetables staples in their diets.
