SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A witness called police last night after watching a group of alleged car hoppers working their way through a southwest Sioux Falls business parking lot.
Sergeant Sean Kooistra says when police arrived, the suspects were seen actively checking for unlocked cars in the lot.
Kooistra says police recovered cell phones, a wallet, various personal items and a stolen handgun.
Arrested are 18-year-old Iman Karimpour, 22-year-old Fern Nelly Santiago, 20-year-old Dorian Leashon Wade the Third and 23-year-old Alyssa Michelle Doughty all of Sioux Falls. They're all facing charges of possession of a concealed weapon and possession of stolen property. Karimpour and Santiago are charged with criminal entry of motor vehicles.
A 14-year-old female was arrested for possession of a concealed weapon and possession of stolen property.
Kooistra says even though there was only one handgun in the car, all five face the possession charge.
