BRANDON,SD (KELO-AM) - What started as a medical call for an overdose has led to a drug bust. Captain Jason Gearman of the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office says on Sunday evening around 5:30, Brandon Police were originally dispatched to a residence just to the east of Brandon for an overdose. As responders treated the female victim, the cause of the woman's reaction was found to be a marijuana brownie.
As the investigation continued with a search warrant, Deputies discovered a pot growing operation, cocaine residue was found along with several weapons, including an illegal sawed off shotgun. The deputies and narcotics investigators found 28 pot plants. 35-year-old Jesse Elofson and 37-year-old Jessica Farley were arrested for possession of marijuana from one to 10 pounds.
Gearman says there may be additional charges coming for the pair.
