Stolen rifle used in holdup

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The gun wielding suspect in the armed robbery at Casey's on East Benson Road yesterday was the youngest of three teenage suspects arrested.

Officer Sam Clemens says a 17-year-old boy went in to the store with a 14-year-old boy armed with a rifle.

Clemens says a 16-year-old boy was the driver of the getaway car.  All three boys are from Sioux Falls.

A witness got a partial plate and gave police a description of the car.  The boys were arrested later at the Happy Rest Motel on North Cliff Avenue.  That's where police found the car.

The rifle used in the heist was stolen, along with a shotgun, out of an unlocked car last week near 73rd Street and Tomar Avenue.  The shotgun hasn't been recovered.

All three are also charged with armed robbery and possession of stolen property.  The 14-year-old is charged with two counts of aggravated assault for pointing the rifle at the clerks.

Police are still trying to determine how a 14-year-old got a hold of a stolen rifle.
