SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Two central Iowa police officers were gunned down early this morning in what authorities are calling "ambush-style attacks."
A visibly shaken Des Moines Police Sergeant Paul Parizek said the officers where both shot sitting in their patrol cars.
Parizek says there is "clearly danger" this morning for law enforcement in the area this morning. He says Des Moines police doubled officers on patrol in an effort to better protect one another.
The Des Moines police say the shootings started just after one this morning. Officers responding to a shots fired report found an Urbandale Police officer who had been shot.
About 20 minutes later a Des Moines officer was discovered two miles from the original scene suffering a gun shot wound. Des Moines authorities say both officers died.
Law enforcement is working on suspect information but haven't released any details.
