SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A north central Sioux Falls apartment property manager escaped serious injury Wednesday afternoon when an axe wielding man took a swing at him.
Sergeant Aaron Benson says the manager was investigating a tenant's report of damage to a door when he came across a heavy set man trying to break in with the axe.
Benson says the manager confronted the suspect who swung the axe at him twice missing both times. He says detectives believe that the suspect may be an acquaintance of the people whose apartment he was trying to break into.
Benson says the manager got the license plate number of the car the suspects fled in, but no arrests yet.
The suspects are described as caucasion; the axeman is six feet tall, 220 pounds, the other is six-two, 130 pounds, both have brown hair and are in their early 20's.
Damage to the apartment door is estimated at $260.
