SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Minnehaha County Commission today approved new boundaries and mutual aid agreements for the six ambulances serving the county.

Emergency Manager Lynn DeYoung says the decision to redraw primary service areas was prompted by Sioux Falls new provider Paramedics Plus.

DeYoung says Medstar Ambulance provides services to the western half of Minnehaha County and they agreed that it could be better served by another provider, primarily because of location and business models.

Paramedics Plus will eventually service the area west of Sioux Falls.

Even though the commission gave approval to the plan today it won't take effect until the end of November.
