SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - As Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump continues hammering on a rigged election, South Dakota Secretary of State Shantel Krebs continues reassuring voters of a secure system.
Krebs reiterates that South Dakota does not use internet connected voting systems.
She says South Dakota utilizes paper ballots. Voters mark their paper ballots and it's sealed in a ballot box at the polling place.
She says the ballot box remains sealed all the way the county auditor's office. The seal is broken and workers put the ballots in a tabulator to count.
Krebs says once votes are counted, auditors report results to her office on a secure system.
Ballots are then returned to the boxes, locked again and securely stored for at least 22 months.
