PIERRE, SD (KELO AM) - A state prison inmate has died.
Inmate James Smith, age 63, was hospitalized after falling ill at the South Dakota State Penitentiary April 21. He died at a Sioux Falls hospital April 29. Smith was sentenced in March 1990 to two concurrent life sentences for first-degree murder and first-degree robbery out of Lincoln County.
An autopsy is being conducted.
