SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) - Four neighborhood groups in Sioux Falls are looking for residents to volunteer the morning of Saturday, October 15th to clean up the Ellis & Eastern railroad corridor that runs through central Sioux Falls – approximately 2.5 miles of track.

“Now in its fourth consecutive year, the railroad cleanup event is a project that members of our neighborhood look forward to each year,” says Katrina Lehr-McKinney with the All Saints Neighborhood Assocoation.  “All of the neighborhoods involved are excited to once again get our hands dirty in order to clean up and beautify this important area.”

This civic activity is a joint venture between Pettigrew Heights Neighborhood Association, All Saints Neighborhood Association, the Downtown Residents Association, and the 10th & Western Neighborhood Association, along with Ellis & Eastern and the City of Sioux Falls.

“With over 2,300 residents now calling downtown Sioux Falls home, our commitment to keeping the downtown neighborhood and adjacent neighborhoods clean and safe continues to be a top priority,” says Brienne Maner, Downtown Sioux Falls Communications & Membership Director.

The event’s rain date is scheduled for the following Saturday, October 22nd.

If interested in volunteering, contact Mark Weber with the All Saints Neighborhood at mweber910@peoplepc.com or call 605-338-4353.

An event has also been set up on Facebook for the community to share.
