SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - After a million dollar investment, the city held a ribbon cutting today at Spellerberg Park just ten days away from the grand opening of the Midco Aquatic Center.
Mayor Mike Huether says the goal was to make the park shine and fit in with the surrounding neighborhood.
Huether says the homes surrounding the park have just become more valuable thanks to the city's investment. He says Sioux Falls has become a place to live not only a place to play.
Director of Parks and Recreation Don Kearney says the park will serve the neighborhood and the larger community for generations to come.
Sand volleyball, basketball and tennis courts were moved and there's new playground equipment, a picnic shelter and restrooms.
Spellerberg is home to the Midco Aquatic Center which will open for swimming October 13th.
