SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Monday is Family Day, a national effort promoting family engagement as a way to help prevent substance abuse.
South Dakota's First Lady Linda Daugaard says smoking, drinking and using drugs can start in adolescence and lead to addiction.
Daugaard says to do something to remind members of your family how much you love and support them. She says find time to play with your kids, eat together as a family or help your kids with their homework.
Daugaard advises using today to talk with your children about the dangers of drugs and alcohol and recognize the power you have to positively impact them.
