SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) Augustana University on Friday dedicated the new $35 million Froiland Science Complex.
The Complex is named after the late Sven Froiland, a long time biology professor and untiring cheerleader for scientific research at Augustana. His eldest son, Tom Froiland, spoke at the outdoor dedication before a large audience and many members of the Froiland family.
"Dad and mom would both be very proud, but humbled by having this beautiful facility named after him and in his honor," said Froiland. Froiland said both teaching and research would be accomodated for well into the future at the "state-of-the-art" science complex.
The distinctive building with soaring glass frontage and yellow and blue highlights graces the corner of 33rd and Grange.
The 125,000 square-foot building project of new construction and renovation is the biggest ever on Augie's campus.
