SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) All 3,300 Sioux Falls School District employees squeezed in to the Sanford Pentagon for the 2016-2017 General Session.
School Spokesman Ben Shumacher says its the only time all the employees are all together in one place. It's a kind of big pep rally to energize everyone for the new school year.
The program featured the Lincoln High School Marine Corps JROTC presenting the colors, Roosevelt High School Junior Madison Skinner playing the national anthem on the trumpet, and administrators performing a skit. Schools Superintendent Brian Maher addressed the crowd, as did former refugee and Washington High School Graduate Wilson Kubwayo.
Now everyone is pumped up for the kids. Sioux Falls public schools open Tuesday, September 6.
