SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The GreatLife Challenge boasts the second largest purse on the Symetra Tour but the real plum for the women golfers is getting to the LPGA Tour.
25-year-old Jessica Wallace of Canada says there is comaraderie among the women golfers.
Wallace says most of the girls on tour are friends but the obviously want to beat each other. She says if a competitor shoots a 68, "that's great, go ahead, good for you, but I'll shoot a 67."
144 players teed off in the first round today at Willow Run for a share of a $210,000 purse. The winner pockets $31,500 and huge leg-up on getting to the LPGA Tour.
The number one golf on the Symestra money list is Madeline Sagstrom of Sweden. Sagstrom has already broken the single season record for earnings in Tour history with $123,678 so far this year. She has two wins and eight top-ten finishes.
