Mayor Mike's next move a mystery even to him

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) - The South Dakota political rumor mill grinds on that Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether will run for governor as a Democrat in 2018.

Not so fast. Huether says, like most of us, he doesn't really have a good idea what he'll be doing a year and a half from now when he is finished with this second--and final--four year term as mayor. However, he did leave open the possibility of some sort of elective office some time.

"Ah, we'll figure it out," Huether said. "I've got a bunch of things I want to do. And who knows, I'd love to still serve the people in some way, shape or form."

During an interview Tuesday morning on The Greg Belfrage Show that concentrated on the controversy over a new city administration building, Huether did admit he would "struggle" with not being mayor, becoming choked up when he said that.

When Belfrage noted that Huether sounded more like a Republican than a Democrat, Huether said he has become more independent and libertarian during his six and a half as Sioux Falls' mayor.

Above is an extended actuality from the interview with Mayor Huether. So, draw your own conclusions.
