With department store giant Macy's slated to close 100 stores, where does that leave Sioux Falls?
Commercial real estate expert Ron Nelson of Sioux Falls says the Sioux Falls economy is good and the Sioux Empire Mall is doing well, but it's no time to be complacent.
"You look at our mall specifically, and who's our anchors?" Nelson asked. "Younkers, Penny's, Macy's and Sears. Every single one of them, are, in many ways, have a lot of similarities. You know but, you could say then, does that mean that they share the same vulnerabilities? The answer is yes."
Nelson said all "big box" retailers are being impacted by online sales and specialty shops.
Nelson made his comments Friday on KELO Radio's It's Your Business.
