SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) Children in need can get everything from free vision screenings to free socks and underwear at the 16th annual 'Celebrating Families: A Back To School Fair, at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls.
Darcy Jensen with Prairie View Prevention Services, one of the fair sponsors, says showing kids you care can help keep them from doing drugs and alcohol.
"Our goal is to help kids realize their are people in the community that care about them," says Jensen,"Their are adults who care. This is a community that cares."
The free fair runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday August 20. There will be a free lunch.
Last year, the fair helped some1,000 low income children get off to a good start in school.
Many individuals, groups, organizations and businesses donated the items and services that will be given away for free.
