SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The Great Plains Zoo has received the biggest donation in its history, to bring back the roar of lions.
Philanthropist T. Denny Sanford is giving $1 million for the planned Lions exhibit.
"I'm a zoo guy. You say zoos are for kids. Wrong. Zoos are just as much for adults.." says Sanford.
Sanford and a host of zoo and city officials made the big announcement Tuesday at the zoo, as its many creatures hooted and screeched in the background.
The Great Plains Zoo has a $5 million fundraising goal for the $8 million project, which will feature up to ten lions in natural setttings.

Along with the lions and assorted wildlife, the new project will also include expanded viewing. Visitors to the Maasai Market Cafe will be able to enjoy a bite to eat and watch the lions at the same time.
