SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Sioux Falls School Superintendent Brian Maher says there is a simple reason that the $190 million school bond issue is a special election, rather than waiting until November.
"Under state statute, we have to have our budget finalized by the last calendar day of September," Maher said. "So in order to put our budget together as we required, we need to have that special election."
Maher also addressed why the district doesn't just add on to existing buildings.
"So to make those already large buildings larger to accommodate our student population just wasn't seen as a viable option.
Maher spoke on KELO-AM's It's Your Business this morning. Click here to listen to the podcast.
