Sioux Falls School Board approves adding $190 million referendum to election ballot

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The Sioux Falls School Board unanimously approves a resolution to issue a $190 million general obligation bond and set the special election date for September 18th.

Superintendent Brian Maher says the decision made by the School Board today was a 'historic decision.'

The 25-year bond is expected to solve the growing overcrowding issue in the district by building a new high school, middle school and elementary school by 2024

The bond would increase Property taxes for the average home-owner by $24.

A special election date has been set for Tuesday, September 18.
