SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- South Dakota native Wally Wingert says don't sneeze, but you'll catch him in the new movie, The Incredibles 2.

He plays a newscaster.

The Washington High School graduate is a successful actor and voice actor in Hollywood.

He got his start right here at KELO Radio in the early 1980s as a disc jockey. He worked with fellow KELO Radio legends Harley Worthit and Jon Michaels. His first stint on the radio was as a five-year-old with another KELO legend, Norm Anderson, when Norm worked at a radio station in Aberdeen.

Wingert credits Eddie Munster from the old TV series for his foray into acting.

"I was watching The Munsters on TV and I saw the little kid with the makeup on and the pointed ears," Wingert said. "He was having fun. That's what I want to do! I want to be an actor like that and dress up and be on TV."

When he was told the young actor actually got paid to be on TV, Wingert said he was hooked.

However, making it Hollywood isn't easy. He says the audition process is demoralizing.

"You would walk in, and the casting director would almost immediately judge you the minute you walked through the door, whether you were good or not," Wingert said. "You haven't even heard me act yet, you haven't seen me perform the scene. So obviously they're just looking for types, not for a capable actor."

Wingert is a huge fan of Batman and Batman Adam West. The two struck up a 37-year friendship when West visited Sioux Falls. Wingert has done voice work for various Batman cartoons and video games.
