Terrace Park pool closed by "diarrhea incident"

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The Terrace Park Aquatic Center is closed today because of what's being called a "diarrhea incident."

The City said the pool needs elevated levels of chlorine to disinfect the water.

Other City pools and water parks are open today.

Below is the City's release on the situation.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota: In accordance with Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation’s water quality policies, Terrace Park Family Aquatic Center, located at 1001 West Madison Street, will be closed Monday, July 9, 2018, due to a diarrhea incident yesterday.

An incident of this nature requires the implementation of a disinfection process that requires maintaining elevated chlorine levels for a period of 25 hours before reopening to the public. This procedure is based on guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Terrace Park Family Aquatic Center is anticipated to reopen on Tuesday, July 10, at 1 p.m.

All other outdoor aquatic facilities will be open their regularly scheduled hours.
