SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Sioux Falls Police are again hosting National Night Out and are looking for more neighborhoods to participate. National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and positive police-community partnerships.
Every year there are several neighborhoods that host special events like block parties, cookouts, and pot-luck gatherings. The different groups receive visits from the Police, Fire, and other City Departments.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs. It will also strengthen neighborhood spirit, police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and know what to look for.
