Street construction season continues

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com)  Street season continues on Monday, July 9th.

South Cliff Avenue: 

The outside southbound lane of South Cliff Avenue will be closed at various locations between Tenth Street and 41st Street to allow construction crews to perform storm drainage repairs. One lane of traffic southbound on Cliff Avenue will be maintained at all times. Northbound traffic will not be impacted at this time.

49th Street:

Inside eastbound and inside westbound lanes of West 49th Street will be closed between Kiwanis Avenue and Western Avenue to allow construction crews to perform sanitary sewer repairs. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times.

This is the first phase of a project to perform street and utility repairs along 49th Street from Carnegie Circle to Western Avenue. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction throughout the entire length of the project.

The overall project is anticipated to be complete by early September.

Terry Avenue:

Terry Avenue south of Kirkwood Circle to 43rd Street will be closed to all traffic. Traffic on Terry Avenue will be detoured to Marion Road via 41st Street and 49th Street. 

This work will include resurfacing and underground utility installation and is anticipated to be complete in September. 

East 12th Street:

East 12th Street from Bahnson Avenue to Thompson Avenue will be closed. East 12th Street from Thompson Avenue to Cleveland Avenue will remain closed. 

This work includes milling and overlaying the existing asphalt, spot curb and gutter repair, and minor utility repair. The existing sidewalk radius at all intersections will be removed and reinstalled to bring the intersections into ADA compliance. 

The project is anticipated to be complete by mid-August.

North Phillips Avenue: 

North Phillips Avenue between Second Street and Sixth Street will be closed to through traffic to allow construction crews to perform sanitary sewer work.   

Traffic will be detoured along Sixth Street, Main Avenue, and Second Street. 

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete by Friday, August 3.

South Foss Avenue:

South Foss Avenue south of Arrowhead Parkway will be closed to allow construction crews to reconstruct the intersection. Access to Foss Avenue north of Arrowhead Parkway will be maintained.

 This work is part of the ongoing Arrowhead Parkway reconstruction project. Crews are anticipated to have Foss Avenue south of Arrowhead Parkway re-opened to traffic in approximately two weeks.  

The overall project is scheduled to be complete later this fall.

South Minnesota Avenue:

the outside northbound lane of South Minnesota Avenue will be closed at 34th Street and 37th Street to allow construction crews to replace the accessible curb ramps. West 34th Street will be closed at Minnesota Avenue during this work, however, 37th Street will remain open to traffic. Access to businesses will be maintained. 

This is the next phase of a project to upgrade the ADA accessible curb ramps and sidewalk at select intersections along the West 41st Street and South Minnesota Avenue corridors. 

Work at these locations is anticipated to be complete in approximately two weeks.

South Denton Avenue:

South Denton Avenue will be closed at 82nd Street. Traffic will be maintained on 82nd Street.   

Work will include surface removal and reshaping of the roadway to promote positive drainage.  

This work is anticipated to be complete by the end of July.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
